HUJAN

HUJAN Fever..
by Sy8nSk8

Lately in Malaysia, if we tuned to local Fm radios such as Era.fm or HotFm, there were monopolized by Indonesian’s bands and singers. Kind a feel like in Indonesia at a certain time because local music was played rarely. But right now suddenly people got a fever because it was raining.
It’s not a bad day after all because it’s not about weather but it was a local independent band that break through the Indonesian monopoly. They called themselves as Hujan. Who’s Hujan? So let’s get a little information about them.

HUJAN - Formed in early 2006, this wave-worthy band consists of Noh on vocals and 2nd guitar, Dimas on bass, Iyag on 1st guitar and Ambobzeela on drums. Influenced by a diverse range of bands which include the likes of The Strokes, Butterfingers, WhiteShoesandTheCouplesCompany and even Pot Amir, Hujan prefers to classify their music as alternative rock and has no qualms about delivering their material in Malay.

Living and breathing the element they take their name after, their music alternates between the light, heavy and the torrential storm a reflection of the many stories, moods and agendas embedded in their songs. They sing about everything from love, God, family and to the happenings of the world.

With their massive hit singles such as Bila Aku Sudah Tiada, Pagi Yang Gelap, Aku Scandal, Hiba, Mospeada/Lonely Soldier Boy, etc. it begins to attack all radio charts day by day. Even RTM also playing their song and make them perform in Zoom In.There must be something special that make them nowadays. From my opinion, what make them successful maybe because of their music, which was so easy listening even it was alternative rock, their lyrics which was so simple and of course it is in malay and not to forget their style and how their performing live.

Latest news, Hujan just got back from UK for their tour. They were invited by Malaysian students in UK to perform live in Liverpool, Cardiff, Manchester and Sheffied.
From what I heard, their tour was a great success and all were sold out. This was indeed good news.

Besides Hujan, there were many others indie band that come to the fame such as Estranged, Meet Uncle Hussain, Bittersweet, Pop Shuvit, and many others. If this continues, it will be a positive start for for the Malaysian music industry because there was a lot of quality in their materials.
